01 / The service

We have retained
the limitations.

Messages travel branch by branch.
The usual procedures apply.

Local service

Your branch has a boundary.

Washington Square is not Tribeca. To reach another branch, ask an operator to relay your message.

Shared traffic

The line is for everyone.

A small branch shares a single channel. Other operators may be using it. Their messages are part of your listening experience.

Personal attention

Listen for your callsign.

There is no private inbox. You have a callsign, and the branch has traffic. You will need to pay some attention to distinguish the two.

MM–01 / Standard equipment

The operator’s key.

One button. No shortcuts.
Available in three color arrangements.

03 / Extended service

There is a route.
It involves people.

A message for another branch is handed to a relay operator, then passed onward. Each operator must be present. Please allow for this.

05 / Enquiries

A few particulars.

Do I need to learn Morse code?

A reference sheet is supplied.

Why are the branches so small?

So an operator can know the local traffic, learn the callsigns, and occasionally require assistance getting a message elsewhere.

What happens if two people transmit?

The messages will overlap. Operators will need to wait until the channel is clear, then try retransmitting.

Can I bring it on vacation?

Branch access is restricted by location.

What if nobody answers?

Please stand by. The intended operator may be attending to another matter.
